A Farm to Table Butcher
Blue Star Meat Co. was founded by Tom DeJonge in 1968. Working out of a 720-foot building on the south side of Holland, he provided many services including custom processing for local farmers and providing wholesale meats to many private restaurants and grocery stores in the greater Holland area. He specialized in custom award-winning ham and bacon, and provided individualized customer service. In 1970, Tom began processing deer and offered additional specialty items.
Tom learned the trade from his father, Myron “Mutt” DeJonge and his brothers and, together with his wife JoAnn, passed on his skills and business values to his children.
In 2003, Tom stepped away from the daily operations of the business. Rodney DeJonge has run the business since and has continued many traditions, but has also greatly expanded into the retail market. He continues to do custom processing, create smoked meats, and process deer in season.

My family loves their homemade brats and meat sticks. I finally got a chance to try their BBQ (pulled pork). BEST PULLED PORK I’VE EVER HAD!!! Their coleslaw was absolutely delicious as well!
Always have had great service when we go. They make everyone feel like friends. Just tried bacon this morning from Blue Star and oh my! Best bacon I’ve ever had!! Definitely recommend!
